How to Program a Crystal
When you are programming your clear quartz crystal, it is important for your thoughts and words match what you want for this to be successful. Careless or unclear communication can confuse and break down their energy so they cannot fully benefit from any type of programing done with them. It's advised before starting that one should know his/her intentions related to what they are doing and the intended purpose when attempting the steps below. Write it out if you need to in order to have your thoughts clear.
A lot goes into making sure every word counts; here I'll share some tips on being more mindful while talking about spiritual items like stones (or anything really). The first thing would be understanding where do these objects come from (how they were mined), if they were owned prior (prior programing in them) etc.
Clearing and Cleansing Crystals
Once you have selected your crystal it is time to clear it before using it. There are many methods that you can use to clear your crystals; here are some examples. Use common sense and do not place any water soluble or fragile crystals out in the elements. One of the most common water-soluble crystals is selenite.
- Ground and center yourself in any manner you select (meditation, prayer, visualization etc.).
- Concentrate on only positive thoughts and the specific intention that you have for this crystal (beautify a room, healing, manifesting, creating peace etc.).
- Run your clear quartz crystal under clear water for a few moments.
- If it’s not a clear quartz and your crystal is water-soluble then you can clear it by holding the crystal in your hand, take long deep breaths and as you exhale breathe into the crystal with the intention of clearing and/or cleansing it.
- You can also clear it by use the smoke from sage or sacred resins.
- While holding the crystal, you may optionally call on the assistance of any form of the positive Light with which you are familiar and ask them to clear and cleanse your crystal. Call upon the energies of the Angels, Archangels, Higher Power, or Ascended Masters and request their help.
- Hold the crystal in your hand and close your eyes. Visualize a gauge (like a gas gauge on a car) and allow it to indicate to you how full it is. Then visualize the gauge going down to zero. This is clearing the crystal. Now visualize the gauge going up to indicate that it is full and feel that you are filling the crystal with your energy and specific intention.
Activating Crystals
Once you are satisfied that your crystal is cleared and ready to use, you want to activate the energies of the crystal.
- If you plan to use the crystal to enhance meditation, for example, you will hold the crystal in your hand, close your eyes, and using whatever means seems appropriate to you, project your energy and the purpose for which you intend to use the crystal into the crystal.
- Concentrate on the word(s) that describes what you want to program the crystal for.
- Feel the feeling that the word cultivates, be in the energy of that word.
- Tell the crystal that is what its job is.
- Speak, breath and blow into the crystal, “I program this crystal is to help me meditate more powerfully and connect me to the higher energies” or whatever you are programing it for. Say your intention three times out loud and then blow into the crystal.
- When you intuit the process is done, thank the crystal and disconnect your energy.
- It is now ready to use.
Remember that the more heavily a crystal is used the more often you need to cleanse it. A crystal I use in my healing office I quick cleanse between clients and full cleanse at the end of each workday. A crystal that I have in my living room to enhance positive feelings many only need to be cleansed quarterly or less if the environment is harmonious.
